Common, Frequently Asked Questions

What does MTAK actually do?

MTAK prepares a correctly formatted EFW2C wage correction file for submission to the Social Security Administration through Business Services Online (BSO). We handle the administrative preparation — not legal, tax, or financial advice.

Do I need anything before I start?

Yes — an active EIN on file with the IRS, and an already-activated BSO Wage Reporting account. If you've never registered with BSO before, budget 2–3 weeks: SSA mails a physical activation code to your EIN's registered address, and you can't submit anything until it arrives.

What happens after I generate my file?

Validate it using SSA's free AccuWage Online tool first, then submit it through your BSO account. MTAK's job ends at building a submission-ready file — the actual filing happens on SSA's system, under your account.

Is my personal information stored here after I'm done?

No. MTAK does not retain Social Security numbers, EINs, or other personal data once your file is generated.

What if I'm a household employer without an EIN?

This service isn't a fit for you yet — BSO can't issue an activation code without an EIN on file, so electronic filing isn't available to you. You'd need to file paper W-2/W-2c forms directly with SSA instead.

How much does it cost?

Free – $329, based on tax year & volume
